Reed L. Nelson, age 36, of Carbondale, IL, formerly of Hoffman Estates, born May 30, 1965 in Des Plaines, IL, died March 14, 2002 in Carbondale, IL. Son of Sandra, nee Johnson, and Robert P. Nelson of Hoffman Estates, IL; brother of Robyn Nelson Shannon and Robert Nelson; survived by aunts, uncles, many cousins and friends; preceded in death by his grandparents, Clara and Eddie Johnson of Frederic, WI and Helfrid and Gunnar Nelson of Chicago, IL. An engineer at the sports arena at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, member of the graduating class of 1983 at Fremd High School in Palatine, IL, recipient of a Bachelor’s Degree at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL and honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and had served in the Army Reserves for seven years. In lieu of flowers, memorials to any local animal shelter or Prince of Peace Lutheran Church PADS Program, 930 W. Higgins Road, Schaumburg, IL 60195.
