Robert D. Tice, 76, died Saturday, March 16 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. A longtime member of Columbia Yacht Club and The East Bank Club. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He sailed in many Chicago to Mackinac races, one design races and cruised in Canada and Europe. He was president of Win Tice & Co., a manufacturer’s representative of greeting cards, gift-wrap and stationery until it was sold in 1983. When asked what he did, he always replied, “I sell happiness!” With the advent of the computer age, he became proficient on the computer, and reconstructed his family tree, which he shared with his relatives. He had a myriad of close friends, a comedic sense of humor, and traveled extensively, preferring unfrequented exotic places. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sue; sister-in-law, Louinia Mae Whittlesey; nieces and nephews. Wynn Coggin, Tom Tice (Judy), Charles McKinley, William McKinley (Susie), Laura McKinley, Robert Whittlesey, David Whittlesey, late Robin Whittlesey Feuer (Carl) and Tim McKinley (Pamela); 16 greatnieces and nephews; four great-great-nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Contributions to the charity of your choice.
