Naperville’s Children’s Heart Foundation, a not-for-profit organization created in 1996 to support congenital heart research, will hold its third annual golf outing June 17 at the Highland Park Golf Club.
According to communications manager Heidi Swanson, previous outings have attracted 75 to 100 participants and raised about $30,000.
“We’re hoping this continues to grow and that we’ll get over 100 participants this time and raise $20,000,” Swanson said.
A special part of this year’s outing will include an appearance by 10-year-old golf prodigy Mackinzie Kline of Encinitas, Calif., who was born with multiple heart defects and took up golf because it didn’t require her to run. Mackinzie has several golfing awards, including the International Junior Golf Tour 11- to 14-year-old girls’ division and the 2001 California Junior Tour 11 to 13 division. She made a hole in one when she was 9.
Tickets are $250, which includes lunch, golf, an evening reception with cocktails and a silent auction. Non-golfers may attend the reception and silent auction for $60.
Pre-registration runs through June 12. For more information call Swanson at the Heart Foundation, 630-428-1298.
The golf course is at 1201 Park Ave. West, Highland Park.
