Joan Hunter, age 78, of Hobe Sound, FL, passed away on Sunday, June 2 at The British Home in Brookfield, IL. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gil, in 2000. Joan was a former resident of Bellwood and Wheaton, IL before retiring with Gil in Florida in 1982. Joan was an active member of the Daughters of the British Empire and will be missed deeply by her many companions of the DBE in Illinois and Florida. The family appreciated the frequent visits from many of her friends during her short stay at The British Home. A memorial and prayer service was held at The British Home on June 3. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joan’s memory may be made to your local American Cancer Society office or The British Home, 31st St. at McCormick Ave., Brookfield, IL 60513-1097. Joan is survived by her three loving sons, Michael (Jan) of Minneapolis, MN, Richard (Karen) of Douglasville, GA and Gordon of Waunakee, WI; six devoted grandchildren; great-grandson, Liam.
