Rev. Peter Kumle, C.P., a member of the Passionist Congregation for 57 years, and a priest for 50 years, passed away suddenly June 11, 2002 at Resurrection Medical Center. Born in Peoria, IL, the son of John and Helen Kumle, nee Howe, Father Peter joined the Passionists in 1944, professed vows in 1945 and was ordained in 1952. Father served as a missionary in Japan for 15 years as retreat director and superior. He returned to the States, and served in Louisville, KY, Sierra Madre, CA and in Chicago, as Pastor of Immaculate Conception Church for seven years. Most recently, in failing health, Father Peter was a member of Daneo Hall Retirement Community of the Passionist Monastery in Chicago. He is survived by one sister, Mary Kumle of Springfield, IL; and several cousins. Visitation Friday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 7211 W. Talcott (at Harlem), with Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass Saturday 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
