David Stumph, 18, whose joyful spirit and ceaseless smile was a constant source of inspiration to others, died of multiple organ failure Saturday, June 15, in his home in Naperville. Mr. Stumph was born with multiple disabilities and was abandoned shortly after his birth. Michael and Karen Stumph took the infant in their home when he was 4 months old and adopted him when he was 2. He went through the District 203 special needs education program and was a student at Naperville Central High School. Although he was non-verbal and used a wheelchair, Mr. Stumph spread joy to others who met him, his father said. “He was a very special child of God who was an inspiration to many people. With everything that he was going through, he was always happy. He had a wonderful smile that just brought out the best in people,” he said. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stumph is survived by sisters Jennifer Craven and Ming Jones and a grandmother, Vera Wilking. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 87th Street and Lisson Road, Naperville.
