On July 9, baseball played its All-Star Game. In an utterly meaningless game, played strictly for entertainment, baseball epitomized democracy. Everybody played, nobody lost and everybody won. Even more, the game was ended at a reasonable hour and it had plenty of action.

And yet, from one end of the country to another, people decried the fact that there was no winner. At a time when there are very real problems that need our attention, picking on a baseball game seems utterly trivial. As for me, I’d rather enjoy it.
