An Arlington Heights man was charged Sunday with driving under the influence in a hit-and-run accident that injured two Chicago police officers, police said.

Boguslaw Wielgosz, 46, of the 0-99 block of Suffield Drive was driving his van east on North Avenue Saturday evening when he tried to turn left onto Narragansett Avenue and hit a westbound squad car, said police spokeswoman JoAnn Taylor.

Two Grand Central District officers were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Center and released Sunday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Wielgosz left the scene but was arrested minutes later by Oak Park police at North and Ridgeland Avenues, authorities said.

He also was charged with driving with a revoked license, driving without insurance, failure to yield the right of way and leaving the scene of an accident, all traffic offenses.

Wielgosz was being held Sunday at the Grand Central District headquarters, police said.
