1. That’s more like it
Sunday’s playoff games were just what you would hope for: big leads, big comebacks, last-second wins and a vast improvement over Saturday, when Indy and Green Bay thought they had the bye week.
2. Just an idea
You know Tim Couch and Kelly Holcomb can play QB in the National Football League. But they both can’t play for the Browns at the same time. Let’s say Mr. Angelo gives Mr. Policy a call to offer his condolences on a tough loss and maybe mention a trade of some kind.
3. Don’t quote me
Jocelyn Thibault, on playing the top NHL teams: “We don’t want to be embarrassed.” There probably weren’t that many watching the nationally- televised collapse by the surging Hawks to the division-leading Red Wings on Sunday, especially in Chicago where home games are rarely on TV.
4. Flying both ways, but not a roundtrip ESPN.com reported
Maurice Clarett wants to play on defense next year. That way, he won’t get two seats the next time he wants to fly home.
5. Plugging the hole
Saturday, Florida got bad news when QB Rex Grossman said he was entering the NFL draft. Sunday, Florida got good news when Chris Leak, the nation’s best high school quarterback, committed to the Gators. Not that the first had anything to do with the second.
SIXTH MAN
6. Like the seasons
With Alabama and Pittsburgh losing, No. 3 Duke (89-71 over Clemson on Sunday) should be No. 1 again when the polls are released Monday. “We finished the last four years No. 1. This team is not that,” said coach Mike Krzyzewski, warming the hearts of no one.
