John James Moran, 68, of Henderson, NV, formerly of Flossmoor, IL, died on Wednesday, January 1, 2003, in Las Vegas, NV, after having battled ALS for over six years. John was born August 2, 1934, in Cleveland, OH. He was a retired partner of Grant Thornton LLP in Chicago. John also served his country as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and retired from the USAR as a Lt. Colonel. He is deeply missed by his loved ones; his sister, Patricia Leavy of Smithtown, NY; brother Joseph of Lakewood, OH; his wife of 42 years, Fern Moran of Tinley Park, IL; his children, Sylvia of Alexandria, VA, Teresa of Las Vegas, NV, John II (Patricia) of Henderson, NV, Erin (Richard Bevin) of Boulder, CO, Sean (Kristen) of Chicago, IL, and Tim (Kotomi) of Oak Park, IL. He had six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Sylvia Moran. A memorial Mass will be held at Infant Jesus of Prague on Flossmoor Rd. in Flossmoor, IL, on Saturday, January 18, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. Memorial donations may be made on John’s name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
