Undoubtedly there are a number of drivers who feel that they are entitled, that they have rights that other drivers don’t have. While this could apply to many actions on the road, I’m specifically referring to drivers who go through red lights, particularly those who squeeze in at the end of left turn signals and go through yellow lights that are obviously about to turn or actually have turned red. These drivers assume that their rights supersede those of the other drivers and undoubtedly these drivers do many other things while driving that represent their entitlement psychology.
Having more police to enforce the rules is really not the answer and not economically realistic. Perhaps teaching children is part of the answer. In the meantime, we need to protect ourselves by being vigilant and not being victims of these people. Basically that implies that we be patient, exercise anger control and look both ways before we start from a stop sign or a stoplight.
