James A. Larson, 65, of Lombard formerly of Elmhurst, born September 27, 1937, passed away at his home on January 12, 2003. Dear son of the late Howard and Alberta Larson, nee Phillips; he was the beloved brother of Janet (Roger) Steingraber and Joan (Ken) Frank; fond uncle of Scott (Dale), Leal, Jan and Thor Steingraber and Andrea, David, Emily (John) and Jim (Aimee) Frank and the late Craig Steingraber; granduncle of Kyle, Lauren, Phillip, Charlie, Erik and Austin; also surviving him is his uncle Warren Larson and his two very dear feline friends Star and Rascal. He was a very kind and humble man who had the love and respect of family and friends. James was a longtime social studies teacher spending seven years at Blackhawk Junior High in Bensenville and 26 years at Bryan Junior High in Elmhurst. He was recently employed by RAC in Willowbrook. James was educated in the Elmhurst school system and graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1960 with a degree in Education and American History. At S.I.U. he was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma and served as president in his senior year. A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2003 at the Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst. Guest will be welcome to visit with family at 10:30 a.m. Interment private. Memorials will be appreciated for The American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
