This family activity from www.family.com gets our stamp of approval: Sit down and write yourselves a letter to be opened a decade from now. Consider specific questions such as, What do I think I’ll be doing in 2013? Where will I be living?
Also, write about the present. Describe your living situation, your job, your hobbies and–this could prove to be the most frightening topic down the line–your love life. When all of you have written your fill, seal the letters into individual envelopes and give them to one person (the most responsible one, please), who is in charge of mailing them to the writers in 10 years.
We’re trying to imagine if we had written ourselves a 1993 letter. Let’s see, 10 years ago, our letter would have said we were worried about job security and finances, clueless about our love life and feuding with the family.
Funny. Ten minutes ago, our letter would have said the same thing . . .
