Three people were killed and six were wounded in weekend shootings, including a man who was fatally shot while breaking into a Logan Square home early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Gilbert Matthews, 29, of the 4900 block of West Eddy Street was shot at about 4 a.m. while breaking into a residence in the 3300 block of West Armitage Avenue, police said.

The case was listed as a homicide and home invasion, but authorities would not discuss how the shooting happened, said Chicago police spokeswoman Jo Ann Taylor.

Two 19-year-old men were shot, one fatally, in an apparent gang-related shooting near Northlake, authorities said.

Adolfo Favela of Hanover Park died at 2:05 a.m. Sunday, shortly after he and his friend, Refugio Galleous, were shot by a gunman in the driveway of a Leyden Township home where they were attending a party, said a Cook County Sheriff’s Department spokesman. No one was in custody for the slaying. Galleous’ wounds were not life-threatening, police said.

On Saturday afternoon, police found William Taylor, 51, of the 5900 block of West Superior Street dead of a gunshot wound in his car in the 3200 block of West Madison Street. No one was in custody and the motive was unknown.

Early Sunday morning, five people, including a 13-year-old, were hurt in a drive-by on the West Side, but their wounds did not seem life-threatening.
