Robert E. Green, 72, of Pittsfield, IL and Chicago, IL, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003 in Lutheran General Hospital in Chicago, IL. He was born in Chicago, IL on March 13, 1930 to Clair John and Edna Rose Kaiser Green. He graduated in 1952 from the University of Illinois with a B.S. Ag-Agronomy. He founded in 1986, Magrabar Chemical Company Corporation in Morton Grove, IL, owner and CEO, invented well known brand of dish soap. He was a member of Cole Lodge #697 and Villa Park #1113 AF&AM, Consistory and Medinah Shrine Temple in Chicago and Lodge Council Chapter Consistory in Valley of Chicago. He was a member of the Pittsfield Steak Club. He had an owl collection. His brother, John quoted his brother in saying, “His greatest achievement was his two daughters Sue and Sandy.” His daughters say that “Dad achieved everything he set out to do; he worked very hard and gave up a lot to provide a wonderful life for his entire family. He will be greatly missed.” Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Susan J.) Jenkins of Gravette, AR and Mrs. Dale (Sandra L.) Roy of Rogers, AR and one brother, John C. (wife Marie) Green of Villa Park, IL; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; two nephews, Bob and Tom Green; and four great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003 at 1 p.m. by the Pittsfield Lodge #790 AF&AM at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Pittsfield, IL. Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 24, 2003 from 4 to 7 p.m. with family present 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or donor’s choice.
