Designed by noted architect Howard Van Doren Shaw and built in 1912 for Donald McClennan, president of Marsh & McClennan Inc., this Mediterranean villa-style lakefront mansion sits on 3.4 acres at 1345 N. Lake Road, Lake Forest. Ralph Falk II, former chairman of Baxter International, completely restored the mansion from 1985 to 1989–even spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to ship in sand to improve the beach–and sold it to a bank trust in 1998 for $4.7 million. The mansion was sold last year for $8 million to former Baxter Group Vice President Jack McGinley, who five months later sold it for $9 million. BY THE NUMBERS: 21 rooms, 10 bedrooms, 8 full baths, 3 half-baths, 6 fireplaces and underground garage with parking for 9 cars.
