A Villa Park man died Tuesday morning after he lost control of his car on the Eisenhower Expressway and hit a semi-trailer.

Illinois State Police said James Vasco, 48, of the 300 block of Riverside Avenue was driving his 1990 Lincoln Continental westbound on Interstate Highway 290 about 7:30 a.m. when he swerved from the middle lane and went onto the right shoulder near Cicero Avenue.

Trooper Angelo Mollo said Vasco then drove up a berm before driving back across the highway’s shoulder and into the back of an 18-wheel Mack truck.

Vasco, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time, was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Mollo said. The truck driver was not injured. Mollo said the accident is under investigation.
