Isley Brothers

Body Kiss

As producer, writer and arranger of most of the Isley Brothers’ new album, R. Kelly uses much of what’s worked for both to lesser effect here. The CD’s hit single, “What Would You Do?” is inventive, but it’s hard not to miss the keyboard progressions from the “Friend of Mine” remix, Kelly and Ronald Isley’s 1998 collaboration. Isley’s sinewy sweet vocals can make just about any song go down easy, but it’s a little hard to digest that Kelly’s style and deliveries are more prominent here than the great guitar playing of Ernie Isley.
