Install mesh screens in your gutters and you’ll never have the unpleasant task of cleaning your gutters to remove pine needles, leaves and debris.
At about a buck for a 3-foot section of mesh, the cost adds up, but not having to make the trek up the ladder twice a year is worth the investment.
Before you install the mesh screens, you should thoroughly clean the gutters.
Carefully position a ladder against the house and then, wearing heavy gloves, scoop out the dirt and debris that has settled in the gutters.
To keep the lawn tidy, put the debris in a bucket and then transfer it to a garbage bag when the bucket fills up. . Work your way around the perimeter of the house, moving the ladder every few feet.
Use a garden hose to flush out the gutters and clean them before installing the guards.
A handyman will charge $191 to install 150 feet of aluminum guards. You can buy the guards for $130, do it yourself and pocket a 32 percent savings.
The sections connect by clipping or snapping them together.
To cut them to size, use a tin snips or heavy scissors. DIY Project
