With 23 aces and strong baseline play, Andy Roddick beat Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-3, 7-6 (2), 6-3 Sunday, a breakthrough first Grand Slam title that could lead to a series of major triumphs.
“I can’t imagine my name and ‘U.S. Open champion’ together. It’s more than I could ever dream of,” Roddick said.
RACE TRACKING: Three cars battled on the final laps of the Delphi Indy 300 before Sam Hornish Jr. beat Scott Dixon by .0099 of a second and Bryan Herta by .0100 in a blanket finish at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet.
