The Romantics

61/49

Two-hit wonders the Romantics haven’t recorded a new album in nearly two decades, but various incarnations of the band have been on the state fair circuit sporadically for years. Credit the group’s perseverance for “61/49,” a taut, mono-drenched collection so retro with its ’60s garage-rock flavor, it’s hip again. It’s a far cry from the only Romantics songs we know (“What I Like About You,” “Talking in Your Sleep”), but if this group were known by another name, it’d sound as sweet.

Take away: Welcome return

Also out this week: Enon, “Hocus Pocus”
