The demise of the supersonic Concorde illustrates how often present dreams fail to predict the future (“Concorde sings its swan song; After 27 years, supersonic jetliner flights are ending,” News, Oct. 24).

Instead of exciting, rapid flight, we are confronted with dreary, ever-enlarging cattle-cars accompanied by long waits in line to be searched and questioned like a criminal.
