Sam Smith had this to say about the Golden State Warriors, whom he placed behind the Bulls in his NBA rankings (Tribune, Dec. 10): “Getting by so far on hustle and effort from a bunch of no-names and a nice schedule.” As the most casual basketball observer knows, playing in the West does not allow for a “nice schedule.”
But more to the point, of the Warriors’ first 10 wins, nine came against teams Sam ranked ahead of his beloved Bulls, including No. 3 San Antonio on the road. Can the Bulls claim anything close to that this season?
Nice schedule? Perhaps when their list of opponents they’ve knocked off includes the Bulls.
