On Dec. 11, 2002, our family experienced a miracle. God, with the help of many angels here on Earth, spared our father’s life. He was home alone putting up Christmas lights when he fell off the ladder onto the driveway. He was found three hours later and was airlifted to Lutheran General Hospital. He had suffered severe brain damage because his skull had been crushed, lost nearly three pints of blood, broke every bone in his face (except his jaw) and shattered his kneecap. He was given a 20 percent chance to live.

Our family would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Lutheran General, especially. We would also like to thank the chaplains, the nurse in SICU and respiratory and the rest of the staff on the sixth floor rehab unit.

We greatly appreciate the help from The McHenry County Flight For Life crew, Huntley Fire and Rescue, the Algonquin Police Department and Kate Brennan from Family Services. Your caring and kindness still amaze us.
