Ed McCarthy was a longtime resident of Chicago, in the St. John Fisher Parish. He worked as a U.S. Post Office letter carrier in Chicago’s downtown area for over 25 years. He retired to Harlingen, TX, for 18 years. Moved back to Illinois in 1997, residing in Wood-Glen Nursing Home in West Chicago. Ed’s hobbies included golf, gardening, crafts, and music. Ed was one of nine children by the late Edward and Marguerite McCarthy. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Clare Sweeney, Gertrude Dempsey and Mary Catherine McCarthy and brothers, William and Gerald McCarthy. He is survived by his sister Lorraine Goetze and brother, Jack McCarthy. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews of the Dempsey, Goetze, Sweeney and McCarthy families.
