Michael D. Silverman was born 56 years ago in Chicago. He died Dec. 30, 2003 in his adopted home town of Boise, Idaho, where he resided for 29 years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Rose; his two sons, Rivers and Joel; his stepdaughters, Michelle and Andrea Frangiosa; his beloved mother, Shirley Silverman (late father, David); his aunt, Georgean Goldenberg of Chicago; and many cousins and friends. Michael was a beekeeper, a gardener, a fisherman, a skier and a goat hiker. Michael worked with the Federal EPA as an Environmental Engineer for 32 years. Currently he had been working with the Pacific Northwest Direct Seed Association in order to further no till farming to avoid erosion, field burning, cut farming costs and increase yields. Michael was awarded the annual PNDSA recognition, usually awarded to a grower, for his part in promoting this project. His picture was on the cover of the Farmer’s and Stockman’s News magazine. Currently Michael is nominated by the PNDSA for a national award pertaining to the promotion of direct seeding. Services and burial were held in Boise, Idaho. Memorials can be made to the JUF, 1 S.
