This is regarding “Why I used a gun to defend my family and my home; Wilmette man explains his drastic actions,” (Commentary, Jan. 22). Residential burglary and home invasion are two different things. The latter, of course, is extremely serious. Any criminal determined or desperate enough to enter a home when the owners are home may have more than burglary on his mind. Kudos to Hale DeMar for protecting his family.
