Charles Bartos, 87, of Wildwood, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2004. He was born in Czechoslovakia on May 5, 1916, the son of the late Hynek and Karla Bartos. He was a decorated veteran of WWII, first serving in the Army Reserve, then with the U.S. Navy and received the Distinguished Flying Cross medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 771 in Gurnee. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Blase) Vale of Wildwood; granddaughters, Jennifer (Michael) Boersma of McHenry and Nicole (Rick) Noelte of Round Lake Park; great-grandchildren Megan, Kristen and Zackary Boersma all of McHenry. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie, nee Svec, Bartos in 1958 and his second wife Estelle, nee Montecki, Bartos in 1982. Funeral Mass is at 10 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2004 at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, 301 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Windridge Cemetery, 7014 South Rawson Bridge Rd., Cary, IL. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2004 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Ltd., 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030.
