Gary Ritz. Funeral services for Gary Ritz, 67, will be held Friday, January 30, at 10:30 a.m. at the Christy Smith Funeral Home, 1801 Morningside Avenue, Sioux City, Iowa. Born November 16, 1936 in Cushing, Iowa, Gary died Sunday, January 25, 2004 in Madison, Wisconsin. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery in Correctionville, Iowa. Gary spent much of his life in Palatine, Illinois where he married Judy Rizner and raised four children. Gary worked in technology sales for a variety of companies including NCR, Singer, and Symbol Technologies. In 1994, he retired to Lake Redstone in LaValle, Wisconsin. Gary was an active member of the Lake Redstone Management Board and the LaValle Sportsmen’s Club. Gary was the beloved son of Louis and Veryl of Sioux City, Iowa; father of Jay of Richmond, Virginia; brother of Terree of Sioux City, Iowa; stepfather of John Rizner of Inverness, Illinois, Jeff Rizner of Libertyville, Illinois, and Jacqueline Luthringshausen of Inverness, Illinois; uncle of Chad Ritz of Sioux City, Iowa, Matt Ritz of Sioux City, Iowa, and Heather (Ritz) Hartkopp of Kansas City; and grandfather to John Rizner, Bennett Rizner, Kole Luthringshausen, and Chloe Luthringshausen all of Inverness, Illinois. Visitation will be Thursday, January 29, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
