This is regarding Dick Barton’s letter to the editor “Nothing super” (Voice of the people, Jan. 23). He wants to know who cares about the Patriots or the Panthers? Answer: I do. I live here now but lived for 38 years in Maine. I love my New England teams and still support them, even from here.

“Let’s leave the tube off and plan some quality time with our families instead of wasting hours watching an over-hyped matchup of no interest,” he writes.

But, of course, if it were the Bears, he wouldn’t mind wasting time watching them.

He cannot assume that just because he doesn’t think the Super Bowl is important that everyone feels that way. Just because one likes sports doesn’t mean that one doesn’t spend quality time with the family.
