When are football games going to be contests between the players themselves and not the coaches?

The coaches’ job should be training during the week, not second-guessing and controlling action in the game. During the Super Bowl, the Carolina Panthers, if not opting for two-point conversions, which was clearly the coaches’ decisions, could have won the game–without even the possibility of going into overtime.

And, so like the Bears, they ran their early first downs through the bunched-up middle of the line and got nowhere. When they finally spread out and let Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme use his prowess in passing, they went down the field for several touchdowns.

And the advertisements and halftime entertainment were stupid, obnoxious and insulting to viewer intelligence.

If TV watchers continue to enjoy this type of fare, they, like the coaches, are settling for defeat in their moral lives.
