Gertrude DeGroot, nee Vander Weit, age 88, of Charleston, SC, formerly of the Roseland area of Chicago, went to be with her Lord on Feb. 19, 2004, beloved wife of the late Peter L. DeGroot; loving mother of Johanna (Howard) Vroon of Charleston, SC, Gertrude “Trudi” (Kenneth) Lautenbach of Indian Head Park, IL and Rosemarie DeGroot of Charleston, SC; dear grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of 11; fond sister of Martha Vander Woude, Pearl Kreykes, Georgia Jonkman and the late Catherine, Abram, Jeanette Porter, Frederick (Jewel) and Alida Bultman.
