I just finished reading Alison Neumer’s article in the RedEye (“Gays fight for rights, open minds,” March 5) and I was touched by the way she handled the article. It is painful to hear the things that the “opposition” is saying, and it’s hard to be called filth, a pervert and a criminal trying to “break in where I don’t belong.” I hope that, with articles as well-written as this and with others reading these horrific statements by some, that a new compassion will arise and will cause people to question what they are really fighting and ask themselves why they hate us so much. It’s funny, all I want is to be married to someone who loves me and raise a family … and for that I’m seen as a “criminal.”
