These are heady times for State’s Atty. Jeff Tomczak.

Earlier this month, he took a major step toward a second term by defeating challenger Phil Mock in the Republican primary. Then last week, the Illinois State Crime Commission selected Tomczak as its State’s Attorney of the Year for 2004, the second straight year he has won the award.

The private organization committed to public safety and law enforcement said it was honoring Tomczak for developing innovative programs to fight criminals. These include enlisting Will County’s houses of worship to help deter crime.

The commission will honor Tomczak at a dinner June 24 at the Drury Lane banquet hall in Oakbrook Terrace.
