I think the article “The darkest days: 10 Loop calamities” (Tempo, July 26) is done in incredibly poor taste. How can you possibly compare events such as the Iroquois Theatre fire and the 1977 CTA “L” tragedy with so-called “calamities” like the long-term vacancy on Block 37 or the State Street Mall mistake? Comparing tragedies involving loss of life with economic blunders is not only inappropriate, it’s heartless and callous toward the victims of the real tragedies.
