Murray Kaplan, beloved husband of Elaine Strauss, nee Eisenstein; loving father of Shoshanna (Roman) Budjianowski and B’at Ami Kaplan; stepfather of Marc (Terri Smialek), Glen (Krista Tesreau) and Alan (Ginger) Strauss; proud grandfather of Yashu Budjianowski and Andrew, Rachel, Jacob, Samuel and Nicholas Strauss; fond brother of Bebe (Robert) Goldsmith. Fought for freedom twice, once in WWII in the U.S. Navy and also in the Israeli Air Force during the 1948 War for Independence. Services Friday 11 a.m. at the Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation, 303 Dodge Ave., Evanston, IL 60202. Interment Rosemont Park.
