Mildred Rosenberg, age 96, a retired elementary school principal who worked for 45 years for the Chicago Board of Education. Her last position was principal of Willa Cather School on West Washington Blvd., where she took great pride in safely and without incident evacuating the entire school on the day of Martin Luther King’s death, when turbulence was all around the area. Before 1958 she was the assistant principal at Phillip Rogers Elementary School on Chicago’s north side for many years. She is survived by her daughter Peggy (Sherman) Wolf; grandchildren Brian (Sherri) Leahy, Karen Leahy, Jennifer (Ivo) Bakker, Jonathan Simon; and great-grandchildren Maggie Leahy, Daniel Leahy, Ella Bakker. There will be no services as Ms. Rosenberg requested that her body be donated to the Anatomical Gift Assoc. of Illinois for medical study.
