Even imprisoned rappers have groupies.

Shyne, who is doing time until at least 2009, told the New York Post he’s had a flood of marriage proposals come to him by mail at the Clinton State Correctional Facility in upstate New York. But don’t expect him to plan a rose ceremony anytime soon–Shyne has declined the offers to get hitched.

“And some of the most beautiful women in the world were writing me,” he said. “I didn’t even write back.”

For now, music is Shyne’s priority. His album “Godfather Buried Alive” hits stores Tuesday, and he doesn’t plan to let prison stand in the way of his career.

“It’s like Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder,” he told the New York Daily News, “they had their handicaps. It didn’t stop them from making their mark.”
