Browne keeps a nice journal of his world travels at danbrowne.com.

Early days

Browne didn’t start focusing on running until his junior year of high school.

Did you know?

He and several other U.S. runners have been living in a five-bedroom house that is at sea level, but special filters inside the house remove oxygen to give the athletes a feeling of living at high altitude. Living in a thin-air environment makes your body adapt to functioning with less oxygen in the air and increases your lungs’ ability to carry oxygen.

Post-Olympic star potential

Rarely has the U.S. been strong in this event, and Browne was only third in the U.S. trials. But the Army angle will get told. Star power: 4 out of 10.

In the booth Marathon broadcaster

Marty Liquori: Calling his eighth Olympics, he is a spokesperson for the Leukemia Society’s “Team in Training” program.
