I am offended by the Republican Party and its total disregard for the voters and citizens of Illinois. Jack Ryan won the primary election but decided not to run. Now, after weeks of wrangling over who would replace him, the party, not the voters, has made the choice. That choice is not a citizen of Illinois, does not live in Illinois and probably couldn’t care less about the people of Illinois.
What happened to the democratic process? What happened to the idea of electing one of our own to represent us? No discussion was ever necessary; the choice was clear. Jim Oberweis (not my choice) was the runner-up and should be the candidate. Isn’t that the democratic way?
