On Sept. 1 it will have been one year since I moved to the state of Illinois. Had I better understood the Republican Party’s predicament, I would have celebrated this anniversary with a run for the United States Senate. My in-depth understanding of this great state and my months of experience being inside its borders would have compelled me to throw my hat into the ring. The state GOP needs experienced leaders like me. (Of course, I am a Democrat, so that might have thrown a wrench in the works.)
I don’t envy Alan Keyes the prospect of running against state Sen. Barack Obama. I suppose it would have been a stretch even for someone as qualified as myself to challenge a man so thoroughly prepared to serve the people of Illinois. Why, I hear that Obama has even lived here for a while.
