Unlike the Tribune and its sarcastic, petty, nitpicking editorial on Alan Keyes (“The GOP’s rent-a-senator,” Aug. 6), I welcome him with kind words and open arms, in typical Illinois fashion.

Keyes is truly a class act who will carry a much-needed conservative message throughout Illinois.

He is the perfect opponent against Barack Obama, who has yet to be challenged by the media on his extreme voting record. Obama’s only claim to fame is his “one America” speech, which he and his Democratic Party have yet to live up to.

Keyes received as much as 38 percent of the votes in the very liberal state of Maryland.

That alone should put fear in the hearts of Democrats in Illinois.
