Mary Jaffe, nee Sweet. Born in Chicago on May 28, 1908, our cherished matriarch passed away Wednesday, August 18. Mary’s life is best defined as one of strength, pride, love and unyielding devotion to her family. Each day was spent maintaining the unique bonds she had with each of her loved ones. Beloved wife of the late Herman; devoted mother of Mickey (Cheri), and the late Shelley Broutman; cherished grandmother of Marcy (Milt) Leeman, Jim Broutman, John (Mary) Jaffe, Samantha Jaffe and the late Laney (Jim) Landaker; great-grandmother of Jill and Carly Landaker, Shelley and Hannah Leeman and Taylor and Dale Jaffe; devoted sister of Dr. Arthur (Natalie) Sweet and the late Sol Sweet and Bernard Sweet; sister-in-law of Ethel Sweet and Lois Sweet; and dear mother-in-law of Jackie Jaffe. She will be dearly missed. Funeral services Friday 11 a.m. at North Shore Congregation Israel, 1185 Sheridan Rd., Glencoe, IL 60022. Interment will be private.
