USC coach Pete Carroll has suspended starting running back Hershel Dennis indefinitely for “disciplinary reasons.” The suspension stems from an after-curfew party Sunday night that has become the focus of a sexual assault investigation in which no charges have been filed, ESPN.com reported.

– The Big East can’t impose a $5 million fine on Boston College for defecting to the Atlantic Coast Conference, and it can’t force BC to remain in the conference for an extra 15 months, a Superior Court judge has ruled. The decision passed down keeps Boston College on track to join the ACC next July and pay a $1 million withdrawal fee to the Big East.

– The University of Alabama said Birmingham’s 77-year-old Legion Field is in such disrepair it’s no longer safe to use. The school said it would no longer play any home games at the 81,000-seat stadium.

– A state grand jury wrapped up its three-month investigation into the sex-and-alcohol recruiting scandal in the Colorado football program. Officials declined to comment on whether the panel handed up any criminal indictments.
