Her work provide many funny stories about what the kids would do on the bus, said her son Thomas. Mrs. Clark, 74, died of natural causes Wednesday, Aug. 18, in her Elgin home. Born Helen Toler in Buncombe, a small town in southern Illinois, Mrs. Clark was raised on a farm and moved with her family to Elgin at age 14. She graduated from Elgin High School and met her husband, Norman Clark, when he was visiting relatives in Elgin. They were married in 1948 and stayed in Elgin. She was a homemaker for many years before taking a part-time position as a school bus driver for elementary pupils in Elgin School District U-46. She worked there for several years before being hired by the Elgin Township assessor’s office. She worked there for several years as a part-time clerk, filing records and assisting residents. She retired in 1993. Besides her husband and son, she is survived by two other sons, William and Dale; a brother, William Toler; and four grandchildren.
