A Chicago man charged in an attack Thursday on a woman walking from a Jefferson Park bus stop was ordered held in lieu of $500,000.

Marshall Stewart is accused of choking the woman, dragging her into an alley and assaulting her in the 5600 block of West Higgins Road. Neighbors who heard the woman’s screams called police, prosecutors said.

Assistant State’s Atty. Kelly Navarro told Judge Colleen Hyland that two witnesses and the victim identified Stewart, 32, as the attacker. He contends he was at home in the 5600 block of West Goodman Street when the assault took place. Stewart is due back in court Sept. 14.
