John Strub, 101, of DeKalb, IL, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004 at Pine Acres Care Center in DeKalb. He was born on May 12, 1903 in Chicago, the son of John and Bertha, nee Streich, Strub. He married Myrtle Louise Young in Chicago on Sept. 2, 1927. John was employed as a refrigeration and air conditioning engineer. He was a member of the DeKalb Lodge 144 A.F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite, the Medinah Shriners, having been a Mason for 80 years. He is survived by his children, Charles (Joanne) Strub of DeKalb and Loraine (Ted) Zabel of Cherokee Village, AR; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; and his son, John Herbert Strub. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004 at the Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with the Rev. Timothy J. Peebles, of Chicago, officiating. Burial will follow services at Oakridge Cemetery in Hillside, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 3 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m., at the Anderson Funeral Home.
