A 10-year downtown Aurora development strategy that aims to increase “high-end” residential developments along the Fox River and draw new shops and restaurants to downtown will be considered Tuesday at the City Council meeting.

Sherman L. Jenkins, executive director of the Aurora Economic Development Commission, said the “Seize the Future” initiative will build on regional draws such as the Paramount Arts Centre and Hollywood Casino and will work to create jobs.

Several business executives were invited to help shape the 10-year plan.

Rocky Pintozzi, owner of Comfort Suites Aurora, said the plan is “nothing new to any towns that have the common thread of an older downtown, train station and redevelopment.”

“As a business community, we want to get behind this plan and move forward,” Pintozzi said.
