The City Council on Wednesday unanimously approved 5-percent pay increases for the city’s elected officials for each of the next four years.
State law prohibits pay raises from being voted on after an election so the council took action on the increases well before the 2005 municipal elections. The increases are effective May 1,with subsequent 5-percent raises for the following three years, said Burbank City Treasurer Dean Viverito.
“We’ve been at the same pay four years,” said Viverito, who will be paid $34,433 a year as the city’s part-time treasurer.
Aldermen will make $15,633 a year while the full-time mayor will be paid $70,917. The full-time city clerk will be paid $53,187.
