I’m writing about House Speaker Dennis Hastert’s recent assertion that Al Qaeda would use violence to affect the November election in order to ensure a John Kerry victory. Frankly I’m appalled by Hastert’s comments. Has it occurred to Hastert that, like Al Qaeda, he, too, is using fear as a tool to affect an election?
It’s shameful and repellant to see someone of Hastert’s reputation crawl through the gutter like that.
My fear is that the mud-slinging by both candidates for president will continue.
This entire election is becoming tiresome.
